When I lived on Alta Drive in Topanga, my landlords were part of a Topanga band called the Self-Righteous Brothers. I got to go to their very fun rehearsals next door. This one is June 18, 2010.
From live music to hippie babies playing with chickens, 2010's Topanga Days had it all. And truthfully, I don't remember much else about it. I'll let the pictures talk.
When I was living a block off of Topanga I really enjoyed heading down to the streed for the annual Topanga Days Parade. It is a real small-town parade, with floats made up of people's painted and tore-up old cars. And mopeds. And horses. And skateboards. All probably hemp-powered, since …
I just feel the need to whine for a moment -- please indulge me. (Or skip to the next post.)
My house flooded on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I've already cleaned up twice; there's mud on my floor right now, on Monday morning. In addition, we're late on a big project …
My mountain cabin / hippie shack is built into the side of Topanga Canyon. It's TOTALLY not-up-to-code. Tonight, in the middle of the biggest rainstorm of the year, water started pouring from the WALL on the bottom floor that's built into the hill. It washed about a pound of silt onto …
Lots of info from the Malibu Times:

Saturday, November 24, 2007
Los Angeles County Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman said a just-completed press conference at least 2,200 acres have burned and 35 homes (15 on Seabreeze Road, 15 in Malibu Bowl area and 5 in …
I've put together another Google Map on fire status. At this point, it should be taken with a whole shaker of salt. I'm using the City Of Malibu sources, but note that the mandatory evacuations area is larger than the road closures, which doesn't make sense.
There is no threat to Topanga Canyon at this time.
The fire has consumed 2200+ acres and destroyed 35 homes.
Mandatory Evacuations: All areas from Corral Canyon west to Trancas Canyon Road.
All residents are urged to be prepared to evacuate and to immediately follow …
HereInMalibu has great photos and news from the fire again. I think she needs to move:
Here's the rest of her photos from Flickr. As always, HereInMalibu has good fire information too:
If you're listening to fire reports on local AM radio, take their geography with a (big) grain of …
New reports of a fire near Kanan Dune Rd. in Malibu. For my family and friends, this is nowhere near me. Farther than the last fire.
I'll be updating on this site as I get information. Probably not as frequent updates as last time. My Internet is out at home …
